Who is Richard Robilio?

Picture of Richard RobilioRichard Robilio’s ability to build some of the best off-road trails around comes from when he was a boy. Richard built horse trails on his aunt’s ranch in Collierville, TN, where he kept his horse, Sarge. By the age of 20 he had started his love for off-road activity and was building dirt bike trails on the ranch.

Richard moved to Hot Springs, AR in 1979 with a red 1978 CJ7 Renegade. Richard needed a place to use his new Jeep and have fun with friends. Richard started building a trail system on lands owned by Weyerhauser, I.P. Paper Co., and Bayroid Mines in Hot Springs. These lands were mostly old logging roads and power and gas line access roads.

Richard hosted off-road events throughout the 80’s and 90’s with the help of many friends and trail guides. This includes events for Jeep® Jamboree, Rosser Rush, Superlift Adventures, Sports in the rough, Super Swamper® Tire, and many club rides.

By 1999 the lands in Hot Springs had become very popular. Weyerhause was forced to close the lands to the public for fear of liability. Richard became the key individual that brokered a land deal between Weyerhauser, himself, and a group of investors that would later become The Hot Springs Off Road Park (DBA Superlift ORV Park). Richard successfully completed the land deal, opened the park, and ran the park until he decided to fulfill a boyhood dream: Go West Young Man, Go West! So he did.

Richard looked in a few different places to start his life in the west, and eventually landed in Raton, NM. Richard teaches special needs children in grades 1st to 4th grade during the week, and during the weekend he provides personalized trail guidance at his park in Raton, NM.

Come and visit Richard in Raton and he promises “Happy Trails.”
